Our stars for today include the lovely Maggie Yates, who is currently recovering from a stroke that hospitalised her for some time. Maggie was nominated by several people who wanted to wish her well and put a smile on her face after a difficult year with her own and other members of her close family’s health struggles. Maggie’s treats were kindly donated by the fabulous Lorna at: Pebbles Beach Floristry and Bridget Pascoe.
Next up is David Robbins, who was nominated by his sister for the fantastic care he has shown his parents, including his mum who lives with dementia, throughout this year. David has moved in with them, meaning he was away from his own family, whilst also working full time. What a legend! David’s treats were kindly donated by ICA’s very own baking sensations, Di and Keith Bedford, with beers from Kyle Hope.
We also had the pleasure in surprising the staff at: Atlantic Academy, who were nominated by countless parents as a ‘thank you’ for their hard work and dedication to the children of the Island, throughout what we recognise must have been an incredibly challenging time for teaching staff.
Lastly we delivered a delicious, homemade cake and bottle of fizz to Toni Woodbridge, who was nominated by her mother-in-law, Vikki, for a treat at the end of a difficult year for key workers, especially those like Toni who work on the front line as a care home nurse. Again, cakes were donated by Di and Keith Bedford, with other treats donated by Chesil Property Maintenance.
As always thank you to everyone who’s helped us to spread some joy with this project.
