Advent Angels – Day 13

Advent Angels enjoyed another busy day delivering festive goodies to some wonderful local people.

First-up, collecting boxes and boxes of home baked deliciousness from Sandra Martin, who’d been up since the break of dawn cooking in the kitchen. Huge thanks to her.

Then, off to surprise the staff team at Tesco’s Portland as a thank you from our community for their continued hard work and professionalism throughout the year, including during the Great Toilet Roll Shortage of 2020!

Next, off to give a full cream tea, including fizz and homemade strawberry jam, muffins and mince pies, to the lovely Ros Harris. Sadly Ros lost her husband and a son quite close together and not long ago. She has impressed her friends with how she has continued to care for her grown son who is vulnerable, despite her own health issues and grief.

Finally, we popped into Easton Co-op to surprise Toby Beacock at the end of his shift with yet more of Sandra’s cake, plus some beers and chocolates. Toby was nominated by several customers who told us how they look forward to seeing him as he is always so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We’re told his smiles got people through the lockdown period, when supermarket staff were often the only people they spoke to in person from week to week.

Merry Christmas to them all from all everyone who nominated and the team at ICA.
