Advent Angels – Day 16

On this, the sixteenth day of Advent Angels, we were delighted to surprise five very worthy recipients of our community’s generosity.

Ella 5yrs, Joel 13yrs and Tom 17yrs recently and very sadly lost them Mum Julia following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Not surprisingly they were nominated multiple times to receive a nice surprise and I think we managed it. Huge thanks to Jools Mason for donating such thoughtful gifts and to Janet Newton and her husband who spent lockdown building Ella the most delightfully detailed, ‘Dolly’s Bedsit,’ with everything a dolly could ever need, including a selection of clothes, Christmas decs and food. I think it’s safe to say she loved it!

Next up, local legend Micheal Dench. He was nominated by his sister to celebrate their first ‘transplantaversary,’ due to Micheal donating a kidney to her. Nic also told us how much her brother does for men’s mental health charity, Strong Men, and as a committee member of Portland United Youth Football Club. Although he thought we were trying to sell him something at first, he looked pleased as we left and we hope he enjoys his goodies, including a cake baked by Sandra Martin.

Our last drop off was to a lady that would like to remain anonymous, but who was nominated by her friend for all the emotional and practical support she has given her during lockdown.
