Please call us on 823789 for more information. Lines open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm. Outside of these hours leave a message (answered next working day). Alternatively, contact us via Facebook (search for Island Community Action – ICA) or drop us a line here.

OTHER SERVICES

Due to the current COVID-19 lockdown, ICA’s regular services are on hold. We will continue to review the situation and, as soon as it is safe to do so, we’ll get them back up and running.

In the meantime, you may want to get involved in one or more of our Christmas appeals…

Christmas Boxes – Following the success of previous years, we will be collecting and distributing festive boxes to older, isolated residents who will be celebrating Christmas alone.

Get involved by either making up a box yourself or donating an item to go into a box. Items might include edible treats, toiletries, jigsaws, reading or adult colouring books (with pens), scarfs, gloves and blankets, or anything else you think an older person would enjoy.  Wrap your own box, marking it for a women or man (please provide a list of contents), or leave the wrapping to us. Boxes need to be with us by Friday 12thDecember.

We’d love to encourage children and young people to get involved, so please consider asking your child to create a card or drawing with their own festive message to include in the box.

Pen Pal Scheme – Letters can be a great way to help relieve feelings of loneliness and boredom for older people, particularly during the colder months of winter.  If you enjoy writing and think you could make a difference to one of our older, isolated clients please get in touch – you could even include your first contribution in one of our Christmas boxes.

Advent Acts of Kindness – Following on from the success Caketastic (where you nominated residents who you felt deserved a special baked treat delivered to their door), we’re running a similar activity during the advent period (1st to 24th December). If you are able to donate a treat (baked or other), please get in touch. If you know someone who deserves a treat, look out for our Facebook, website and November Free Portland News ads telling you how to nominate.
