Souvenirs of Place and Love

ICA are working with b-side to help Portland residents create some very special mementos for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Over the next couple of months we’ll be producing 100’s of unique souvenir ceramic items, each embossed with an image of something or someone treasured by a Portland resident, BUT we need your help to achieve this.

We’re having two drop in days at the St Georges Centre, Reforne on the 14th and 21st May (11am to 4pm). During these sessions you’re invited to pop in and let a professional photographer record your special object or photo. Alternatively, you can dress up or down, wear royal regalia or bring along a prop and get your portrait taken. Each image will then be transformed into unique Portland Jubilee Ceramic ready to be exhibited across the Island (before being taken home). So if it’s your dog’s collar, a picture of a much-loved friend, a scrap of material, a piece of lego, your child’s first shoes…bring it in – if it’s important to you it’s important to us too.

NB: Items should be no larger than a shoe box.

Sound artist Jo Tyler will also be recording the stories of the objects and the people that take part and creating a digital sound archive of residents’ treasures and special moments.
